Some Conversations Belong in the Mountains
The conversations that shape the future rarely happen between back-to-back meetings.
When people have space to think, move, reflect, and connect… voila! A trail creates a different conversation than a conference room. A shared meal often reveals more than another meeting. Time in nature helps teams absorb what they know and discover what comes next.
Hayden Backcountry Lodge offers leadership teams, boards, founders, nonprofits, academic groups, and purpose-driven organizations a place to step away from daily demands and gather with intention at 11,000 feet in Colorado’s San Juan Mountains.
Whether you are planning an executive offsite, annual strategy retreat, board meeting, leadership summit, or team gathering, Hayden provides the space, support, and flexibility to create an experience that reflects your people and your goals.

Why Teams Gather at Hayden
Most organizations have plenty of information and intellect. They are seeking alignment.
A leadership retreat creates space to solve meaningful challenges, strengthen relationships, think strategically, and reconnect with the purpose behind the work.
At Hayden, conversations continue long after the workshop ends. Teams gather around a dinner table instead of rushing back to separate hotel rooms. Shared experiences create trust. Movement creates perspective. The mountain offers enough space for people to think differently.
Many guests tell us their most important conversations happened on a trail, around a fire, or during a shared meal.

The Whole Lodge Experience
Hayden accommodates up to 17 guests and is available for whole-lodge buyouts with a two-night minimum stay. When your group reserves the lodge, the experience becomes entirely your own—your team, the mountains, and the opportunity to focus.
The lodge offers comfortable accommodations, chef-prepared meals, gathering spaces, outdoor decks, observation points, wood-fired hot tub access, and immediate access to some of Colorado’s most spectacular alpine terrain.

Food That Fuels Great Work
A full day of thinking, learning, and moving through the mountains asks a great deal from the human body. Chef Eric prepares nourishing meals designed to support both energy and connection. Homemade sourdough baked in the fireplace, fresh vegetables, quality proteins, hearty breakfasts, and thoughtful accommodations for dietary needs help guests stay energized throughout their stay.
The dinner table often becomes one of the most valuable parts of the retreat because the brain functions differently when the body feels cared for.

Can dietary restrictions be accommodated?
Absolutely. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, and other dietary needs can be accommodated with advance notice.
